AICTE Meaning

All India Council for Technical Education / AICTE is the national apex body to advise and conducts regulation of technical education around the country. Established in November 1945, the body helps develop integrated education. The National Policy of Education (1986) vested the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) with the following powers-

  1. Manages technical education throughout the country
  2. Quality education by accrediting
  3. Plans formulate and maintains standards of education
  4. Funds priority areas
  5. Regulates parity in certification and awards

AICTE (the Council) purviews the various technical education programs in India, including training and quality research in the field of Engineering, Technology, Town Planning, Management, Architecture, Applied Arts and Crafts, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, Catering Technology, etc. at various levels.

It partners with many private organisations to provide students with skilling opportunities and certification programs. The body also makes sure to facilitate budding entrepreneurs in colleges to cope with the curriculum while doing exceptional work in the field of research and setting up new benchmarks in technical education. 

Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe from IIT Guwahati is the current Chairperson of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
