UPPSC, Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, was established in the pre-independence era on April 1, 1937, and the commission was constituted under the Government of India Act 1935.
Sir DL Drake Brockman was the first chairman of the UPPSC.
Currently, Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission is headquartered in Prayagraj.
The examination is conducted to recruit candidates for service in Uttar Pradesh. However, people from the pan India level can appear in the examination. It focuses on achieving an assessment and recruiting them for select government office posts. This includes various departments like land records, revenue, administration, education, etc.
The roles offered after the selection in the examination are-
1. Deputy Collector
2. Deputy Superintendent of Police
3. Secretariat officer
4. Block Development Officer (BDO) and many other Group A posts.
Vacancies for the examination differ each year and can be increased or decreased. The official notification given by UPPSC has details of all the posts in various distributions.
UPPSC conducts an examination annually, and many students appear for it. The exams, on the lines of the UPSC examination, are conducted in three stages- preliminary exam, main exam, and interview.
