Electric field lines are visual representations used to depict the direction and strength of an electric field surrounding charged objects. These lines illustrate the influence and direction of the electric field at various points in space. Key features of electric field lines: Direction: Electric field lines emerge from positive charges and terminate at negative charges. They always point away from positive charges and toward negative charges. Density: The density of field lines indicates the strength of the electric field. Closer lines imply a stronger field, while sparser lines indicate a weaker field. Uniformity: In a uniform electric field, field lines are evenly spaced and parallel, depicting a consistent strength and direction. Conductors: Electric field lines on conductive surfaces are perpendicular to the surface. Within a conductor, the electric field lines exist entirely within the material.
