Body Mass Index (BMI)

BMI is a quick screening tool that compares a person’s weight and height to estimate whether they fall within a healthy weight range.

Why it’s used:

  • Helps identify potential health risks like obesity, malnutrition, or cardiovascular issues
  • Easy to calculate and widely used in medical assessments

But its limitations:

  • Doesn’t consider muscle mass, bone density, or body fat distribution
  • Athletes may have high BMI but low body fat
