The birth anniversary of legendary Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan is celebrated every year on 22 December as National Mathematics Day. This day the brilliant mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan was born in 1887 to a Tamil brahmin family in Erode, Tamil Nadu. At a very young age, he showed the signs of an emerging genius mathematician. His contribution includes number theory, School Management System, fractions, mathematical analysis, infinite series, etc., which sets an extraordinary example in mathematics.
In 1911, Ramanujan published his first papers in the Journal of the Indian Mathematical Society. After this, he traveled to England in 1914, where Hardy coached him and collaborated with him in some research. Some other works that become popular too are the Riemann series, the elliptic integrals, the functional equations of the zeta function, and his theory of divergent series.
The former PM of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, paid honor to Srinivasa Ramanujan at a function planned on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great mathematician Srinivasa Iyengar Ramanujan in Chennai in 2012. Thus, on 22 December 2012, National Mathematics Day was become famous and celebrated across the country for the first time. The year 2022 marks the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Ramanujan.
