Field of View

Field of View (FOV):
The field of view is a term used in optics, imaging, and astronomy to describe the extent of the observable world that can be seen at any given moment or through a specific instrument. It is the angular or linear measure of the observable environment.

Optics and Imaging: In microscopy, photography, and binoculars, the field of view is the area visible through the lens or eyepiece. It is often expressed as an angle, such as degrees or radians, or as a linear dimension.

Astronomy: In astronomy, the field of view is the angular diameter of the portion of the sky visible through a telescope or other optical instrument.

A larger field of view provides a broader perspective but may sacrifice detail, while a smaller field of view offers greater detail but covers a narrower area. The concept is crucial in various fields where visual observation or imaging is involved.
