Republic Day Celebrations

Every year India celebrates its Republic Day on the 26th of January.  This year i.e. 2022, India is celebrating its 73rd Republic day. India gained independence from the British on 15th August 1947, yet it was not until 26th January 1950 that the constitution of India was implemented.

Dr BR Ambedkar was the in-charge of the committee responsible for drafting the constitution. This constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on the 26th of November, 1949 and is celebrated as constitution day every year.

On Republic Day, the President of India comes in his royal guard and hoists the National flag at Rajpath New Delhi. The flag-hoisting ceremony is followed by a parade by different personnel of the armed forces. All the states perform cultural programmes at Rajpath, thus marking the unity in diversity in the nation.
