The Indian government’s Ministry of Education is charged with improving the country’s educational infrastructure and workforce. India’s Ministry of Education is split into two branches: the Department of School and Literacy, which oversees and finances elementary and primary education, and the Ministry of Higher Learning, which is in charge of the country’s secondary and tertiary education programs. A council member of Ministers serves as the Minister of Education or Secretary of Human Resources Development. A division of the Dept. of Education, the Ministry of School Literacy and Education focuses on K-12 instruction and adult literacy. Early school, in both the school and community settings, is within the purview of this Ministry of Education division. The primary purpose of the Department of Elementary Education and Literacy is to ensure that all children in the United States have access to a quality elementary education.
