Optical Mark Recognition is the official name for OMR. OMR recognises markings made by people on specialised paper or journals used for experiments, surveys, etc. It is frequently utilised in situations when a large number of applicants are present and to quickly and consistently analyse data. The OMR reader can read OMR sheets.
An OMR scanner that directs a light beam onto the form paper and detects areas of minimal light transmission, i.e., marked areas reflecting less light than blank zones, is used to scan the OMR sheet. It offers an error rate of less than 1%.
