Types of pedagogy

Pedagogy is defined as a method or practice of teaching which comprises of-

·   Teaching theory

·   Teaching styles

·   Feedback and assessment

While referring to pedagogy teaching, it means the way teachers deliver the learning of the curriculum to a class. When a teacher plans a lesson, they consider various approaches to delivering the content. The decision is based on their learning style or preference, experience, School Analytics, and context they want to teach. The pedagogy approach is differentiated based on the differences in the age of students and the content required to be taught to the class. These two factors influence the style of the teacher. Also, teachers use research from different academic disciplines to convey their decision. For instance, a teacher in EYFS might undertake cognitive development research. The justification of the decision will be the pedagogical principles, and every teacher will develop their own over time. The following are different types of pedagogical approaches-

·   Behaviourism- Here, the learning is teacher-centred, where direct instructions are used, and there are lecture-based lessons.

·   Constructivism- Here, people or learners learn through experiences and reflections. It is also known as invisible pedagogy.

·   Social constructivism- This approach is based on two priorities- teacher-guided and student-centred.
