NDA or the National Defence Academy examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for admission into Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. The examinations are conducted 2 times a year, and it is conducted for National Defence Academy and Naval Academy. In 2021, Supreme Court also allowed the admission of women into the NDA examination so that they can be part of the defence forces of India.
The first examination, which included women, was conducted in November 2021 and UPSC conducted it. The government has set different physical condition criteria and height and weight criteria for men and women separately to qualify for the examination. Candidates between the age group of 16 to 19 years who have passed the class 12th exams are eligible to sit for the examination. The Eligibility test consists of two papers, one in mathematics and another in English and general knowledge comprising 300 marks each which the students need to pass to secure a further round in the examination process.
