Online learning platform

A website or gateway for educational information and resources that allow students access to everything they need in one place, including lectures, materials, opportunities to connect and engage with other students, and more, is known as an online learning platform.

Some of the popular learning platforms are as follows:

  • Coursera
  • Upgrade
  • Udemy
  • Codecademy

Online learning platforms offer a wide range of courses where students can enrol remotely and start learning. Even employees who are currently looking to upskill can take advantage of online learning courses. These online learning platforms conduct classes through videos (mostly recorded) which the learners can watch according to their convenience. The courses are mostly more affordable than traditional courses and there are no geographic boundaries. Learners can access quality courses on online platforms from anywhere in the world.

However, there are some disadvantages too of these platforms. Since classes are mostly recorded before, students don’t get face-to-face interaction with their teachers. Also, it is more of a synchronized learning where peer interactions are also limited. This can make students feel a bit alienated. But, these problems too can be eliminated through features like feedback sessions with teachers and live chat groups for students to discuss.
