Elementary School Meaning

The first stage of formal education in elementary education. It is free and compulsory, lasting six years (grades 1-6) for children aged six to eleven. Some prestigious private elementary schools also provide an optional extended elementary level, grade 7. The country’s fundamental education policy prescribes a set of specific competencies in language arts (English and Filipino); mathematics; science; School Management System, and social studies, or Makabayan, which is generally centered toward civic development, music, arts, physical education, home economics, and livelihood education. The DepEd also mandates an accumulated rating system with a passing grade of 75%. After completing six years of elementary school, students are awarded a graduation certificate.

The foundation for learning, growth and development of individuals is established by elementary education. Individuals must be well-versed in terms of measures that are beneficial to enriching their overall quality of life beginning in early childhood and continuing throughout their lives. Furthermore, individuals must focus on leading the improvement of their personality traits. As a result, the emphasis in elementary education is on understanding various crucial and meaningful factors. Students in elementary schools are young.
