Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted to test the undergraduate subjects of engineering and science studied by the student. Good marks in the GATE examination ensure good college admission and jobs in some of India’s best-performing public sector companies. Admission is sought for the Master’s program upon successful completion.
In 2022, the examinations will be conducted by IIT(Indian Institute of Technology), Kharagpur.
The 2022 examination is conducted jointly by-

- IIT Mumbai,
- IIT Delhi,
- IIT Guwahati,
- IIT Kanpur,
- IIT Chennai,
- IIT Roorkee
- the Indian Institute of Science at Bengaluru.
This is done on behalf of the National Coordination Board, a part of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The total duration of the examination is 3 hours, with a total score of 100. There are 65 questions for the examination, each with a different weightage. The scores of GATE provide entry-level positions in the public sector undertaking. The examination is currently conducted for 29 disciplines, and two new papers have been added from 2022.
