Reflective practice

Whenever we encounter a difficult situation, we analyse it and take a decision to tackle it. Reflective practice is the ability to look back at these experiences and reflect on the decisions taken, actions done and results of those actions.

It prepares an individual for continuous learning and better prepared for similar situations arriving again. Reflective practice involves

  • Reflecting on what one did
  • Reflecting on why it was done in a particular manner and whether it could be done differently.
  • Whether actions were successful or better planning is needed in future for similar situations.

Reflective Practice in Schools

Students can benefit from reflective practice as it helps them to critically analyse situations. They analyse their work, whether or not their work meets the specific criteria and the scope of improvement.

Reflective practice also promotes self-monitoring in the students which helps in facilitating intellectual growth and academic excellence. Teachers play an important role in developing this habit by organising tasks in the classroom where students analyse and solve problems rather than just observe and listen to teachers.

Reflective Practice in Professional Place

In a professional place, if individuals are eager to learn and apply logic and problem-solving concepts then it leads to better development of professional skills. Individuals tend to learn more from their professional experience rather than the skills listed in books. Applying reflective practice helps in better management in professional areas and promotes personal growth as well. learn more about Learning Management System.
