Common Admission Test, also called CAT, is one of the topmost examinations taken up by candidates who want to pursue business administration courses from prestigious business schools in India. Admission is granted based on scores secured by individual candidates, and the result is announced based on various parameters, including the preliminary MCQ round. This round is composed of three sections- Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Learning Management System, Quantitative Ability (QA), and Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR).
There are two types of scoring methods that are used- raw score and calculated score. For the correct answers, candidates are given +3 points and -1 point for the wrong answer. However, there is no point awarded for the attempted questions. Almost every major institute in India accepts CAT scores. Candidates are more eager to secure admission to the Indian Institute of Management based on their scores. Upon success, admissions are granted in their various branches like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, etc.
However, IIM Ahmedabad is the top university for the MBA program in India. Many private institutes like SPJIMR Mumbai, IMT Ghaziabad, and FMS New Delhi also select candidates based on their CAT scores.
