SCERT stands for State Council of Educational Research and Training.
It is responsible for the administration of schools in states. It is a society registered under the Societies Act and aims to develop the curriculum in the school for overall development at various levels of education. SCERT also aims to develop scientific progress of evaluation of pupils, develop a strategy to achieve educational goals, to establish a link with NCERT and different departments of Delhi like the Department of education. It also looks to provide service training for teachers at all levels of education, improve the existing examination system and provide resources as per the current need for the educational system of India.
SCERT establishes itself in any part of the state or union territory to realise its objective. It collaborates with other national and state-level institutions to achieve the goal. SCERT was established after the recommendation made by the National Education Policy in 1986 for the decentralization of functions to provide quality education training research. It is also an affiliating body for elementary teacher education and early childhood care and education courses.
