NTA or National Testing Agency is an autonomous organization to promote quality education through transparent, valid, reliable, and standard assessment tests to improve equity.
National Testing Agency is a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
The examinations are conducted for admission or fellowship in higher education institutions in India. As there were multiple channels of assessment for entry into colleges, there was a need for a unified examination that would reduce the money and time involved in the process providing a more reliable way of assessing students.
NTA is also involved in identifying experts from different subject matters who can set standardised question papers. It also researches education and professional development standards throughout the country.
Due to different patterns of examination for entrance to one single stream, the students had to read a plethora of books and prepare accordingly. With National Testing Agency coming into the picture, the redundancy has been removed, and one single exam promises entry into college after its successful completion.
The organisation conducts assessments for different domains like UGC (University Grants Commission), Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for engineering, medical colleges, Pharmacy, Management, Hotel Management, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), etc.
