As the Constitution of India was enacted on January 26, 1950, the Federal Public Service Commission, as it was known in earlier times, came to be known as the Union Public Service Commission. The Chairperson and Members constituting the Federal Public Service Commission became Chairperson and Members of the Union Public Service Commission.
UPSC conducts examinations to recruit for various positions like the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS), Indian Revenue Services (IRS), Combined Medical Services (CMS), Indian Engineering Services (IES), for Army, Navy, Naval academy, Air Force and others. The examinations follow different patterns as per the need of the examination. The Civil Services examination is the most sought one- for which examinations are conducted in three stages- preliminary, mains, and interview.
Admit cards to the UPSC examination are released every year roughly before the month of conduct of examinations. Let’s say the examination is to be conducted in June, so the UPSC releases its admit card in May. Students can download the admit cards on a personal device, and it has to be printed for examination. Admit cards are checked before one enters the exam hall. So, its possession is a must.
