NET full form

NET, also known as National Eligibility Test, is an examination conducted for postgraduates who want to pursue careers in teaching or want to get a PhD. NET is usually conducted nationwide, and it is also known as UGC NET or NTA-UGC-NET. The exam is undertaken to determine the credential for the rank of JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) and Assistant Professor of Indian colleges and universities.

The requirement or eligibility criteria for research and technical teaching is NET. There are several other tests that are carried out in different subjects, i.e., social science, Digital Content, computer science & engineering, political science, forensic science, computer application, law, education, sociology, history, anthropology, and others. The common subjects of literature consist of Rajasthani, Spanish, Sanskrit, Hindi, English, Japanese, Marathi, Gujrati, French, etc.

Important Points about NET

·   NET is a test performed for the first time in 1989 and has been undertaken twice a year since then

·   NET is carried out b the University Grants Commission, which conducts this exam across India

·   The primary objective of the exam is to classify students for a lectureship at the college level and for Junior Research Fellowship·   CBSE carried out the UGC NET examination till July 2018; after which National Testing Agency undertakes the UGC National Eligibility Test from December 2018.
